IEP Ally Binder (“IEP Ally Binder,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a web application that helps parents and guardians organize documents, deadlines, and communications related to their child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using IEP Ally Binder, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Your password is managed by our authentication provider and is never stored or visible to us in plain text.
Profile information. You may choose to provide a display name, your child's name, your state, and information about applicable IEP/504 deadlines so the app can track timelines relevant to you.
Documents and content you upload. IEP Ally Binder is designed to store documents you choose to upload — such as IEPs, evaluations, progress reports, correspondence, and notes. These documents may contain sensitive information about your child, including educational records and, in some cases, information related to disabilities or health. You control what you upload, and you can delete documents at any time.
Usage information. We collect basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and rate-limiting purposes — to help protect the service from abuse.
How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the document storage, search, and organization features of the app
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure
- To send you account-related communications, such as confirmation emails, password resets, and important service updates
- To enforce rate limits and protect the service from abuse
- To process subscription payments, if and when you choose a paid plan
How your information is stored and protected
Your account data and uploaded documents are stored using Supabase, a secure cloud database and file storage provider. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account — we do not access your documents except as needed to provide support you've requested, to maintain the service, or as required by law.
Children's information
IEP Ally Binder is intended for use by parents, guardians, and other adults (18 years of age or older) acting on behalf of a child. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children, and children do not create accounts. Documents you upload may describe or relate to a minor child — you are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and store that information.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information or your child's information. We may share information with:
- Service providers who help us operate the app — for example, our hosting and database provider, email delivery provider, and, if you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor. These providers are only given the access they need to perform their function.
- Legal requirements — if required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the service securely. We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy.
Your choices and rights
- Access & export. You can view and export your documents from within the app.
- Correction. You can update your profile information at any time from your account settings.
- Deletion. You can delete individual documents, or request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.
- Subscription cancellation. You can cancel a paid subscription at any time from your account settings; you will retain access to export your documents before any account closure takes effect.
Data retention
We retain your account information and documents for as long as your account is active. If your account is suspended or closed, we retain your documents for a limited period to allow you to reactivate or export your data, after which they are permanently deleted, as described in our Terms of Service.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the app. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
